"The Catch" and Inspiration for Instructional Design

Of all the greats, Willie Mays was arguably the best. Growing up my dad would describe "The Catch" several times a year, in vivid detail, complete with the actions in our backyard. This was before the days of the internet and YouTube, so for many years, the only visual I had of this catch was my dad reenacting it while I pictured Mays running headlong toward the warning track on the field.

Mays was an exceptional talent, versatile, and renowned for his sportsmanship. As a two-time NL MVP and a Hall of Famer, it isn't hard to see how The Say Hey Kid is a role model for life and business. For me, his determination and tenacity have been life lessons I try to emulate. His legacy will certainly continue and "The Catch" will continue to inspire generations of people, ball players or otherwise, for generations to come.
